Project Description
Built in 1972, the André-Grasset residential buildings 2A and 2B are undergoing a full envelope rehabilitation, in line with the latest energy performance standards and sustainable construction practices.
The scope includes selective demolition of outdated cladding, full wall reconstruction using modern materials such as clay brick and metal siding, balcony and guardrail upgrades, and a complete roof overhaul with enhanced insulation and new high-performance membranes.
This transformation aims to improve resident comfort, safety, energy efficiency, and the overall durability and visual appeal of the buildings.
Challenge
This project involves a range of technical and logistical challenges:
• Work in an occupied environment, requiring strict access control, noise management, and sensitive scheduling.
• Asbestos removal in entrance areas, demanding rigorous planning and full compliance with safety protocols.
• Dismantling and rebuilding of the building envelope, including masonry, concrete, and metal finishes, without damaging existing structures.
• Simultaneous coordination of multiple trades: roofing, masonry, concrete, carpentry, mechanical systems, and hazardous materials.
• Limited site access in an urban setting, requiring precise logistics and delivery planning.
